From its formation in 1922, membership of the Railway Photographic Society (RPS) has normally been by invitation after recommendation by existing members. The Society operates by circulating printed images for criticism and comment, therefore prospective members are required to submit a number of prints, usually three, for evaluation by a representative panel of members.
